Super Castlevania IV is a Castlevania game on the SNES, it was the first Castlevania game on the SNES, and also the first Castlevania game to allow whipping in multiple directions.

The gameplay plays much like the older games, except that unlike the NES games, the controls work differently, as the item button is on the R button by default (in the NES games, up and the attack button is how you use the items.), and the player can also whip in multiple directions.
